Social service centre

Social Service Centre is a municipal institution, which provides social assistance and social services. The Centre also carries out professional social work with adults and families with children living on the territory of Liepāja Municipality, who have problems in their lives that they are not able to take care of by themselves, but have the wish to change the situation they are in. There are various forms of assistance:

• directing the client towards self-assistance, involving him/her in the solving of his/her own problems;
• providing information about possibilities to improve the client’s situation;
• organizing actions of the client, involving him/her in using his/her own resources for improvement of the social situation;
• determine necessity for national and municipal social assistance and services.
  

Main tasks:

• to provide clients with information on the current laws and other normative acts regulating social sphere;
• to organize provision of social assistance and social services to clients and client groups;
• to investigate living conditions and material situation of clients;
• to co-operate with the respective municipal and state organizations and NGOs providing social services.
